Politico’s Republican lineup for 2016

Please, not yet . . . not yet.

Aristotle said that “man is by nature a political animal” – wisdom for the ages, surely. But don’t even animals deserve a chance to hibernate?

To file under the category “Stories I Do Not Want To See For (At Least) Two More Years”:

GOP Leaders Already Jockeying for 2016 (AP)

Handicapping the 2016 Presidential Field (Washington Post)

Analysis: It’s never too early to talk about 2016 (CNN)

Dear CNN: Actually — yes, yes it is.

Democrats’ Wish List for 2016 (Des Moines Register)

Insiders: Look to Florida for Strongest 2016 GOP Candidate (National Journal)

And possibly the most ludicrous fast-out-of-the-gate story of all:

Buffalo News Endorses Hillary Clinton for 2016 (New York Magazine)

The editorial in upstate New York’s #1 eager beaver paper, titled “Clinton Has the Leadership To Be President,” informs us: We’ve barely finished a bruising, expensive campaign for president, but it’s not too early (says who?) to be thinking about who would make an excellent candidate for the presidency in 2016 – particularly if there is a conspicuously capable individual already on the political scene. There is such a candidate, and it should surprise no one that her name is Hillary Clinton.

On the other hand, Politico delivers this early gift to Democrats, in a jump-the-gun article that tells us 2016 is already “in full swing” for the GOP:

POLITICO has also learned that Rick Santorum is telling friends he wants to run again. Texas Gov. Rick Perry has said publicly that he might, too, and has begun talking to donors and other top supporters like he means it.

Yes! Because those two worked out so well the first time. Thanks, guys. The Buffalo News will be glad to hear that Hillary’s path to the White House is officially wide, wide open.
